Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra vs. Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max: I Chose My Favorite

Let's be real

I spent the last 30 days switching between these two. It's $2,500 of phone. It's heavy. My thumbs are tired.

The S26 Ultra is the king of specs. 12GB of RAM, 200MP camera, 120W charging. It's a monster. It's fast. It's huge.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max? It's the king of... everything else. It works with my Apple Watch. It works with my MacBook. It works with my AirPods.

The Cameras

Honestly, Samsung's zoom is the best. I can see a bird on a tree 100 feet away. It's crazy. But the iPhone's video is better. In my experience, if you're a YouTuber or you just take a lot of video of your kids, get the iPhone.

Samsung's photos are bit too "sharp" for me sometimes. The "S26 AI Portrait" makes my face look like a Barbie doll. I hate it. You've gotta turn that stuff off.

Gaming and Power

Both are fast. I think we all knew that. I played Genshin Impact for 3 hours on both. Both got warm. Neither throttled. 120Hz on the Samsung is bit smoother though.

In my experience, Samsung's "Game Mode" is bit more useful than the iPhone's. But you'll probably just use it for Candy Crush anyway. Don't worry about it.

The Verdict

If you're already in the Apple world, don't leave. It's not worth the pain of moving your photos and your messages.

If you want the most "tech" you can get for $1,300, get the S26 Ultra. It's a beast. I'm keeping the Samsung this year. Honestly, I'm bit bored with the iPhone. I want a bit of a change.
