The Great Experiment
I lived without a laptop for 30 days. I used a Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra for everything. Writing, email, even some light video editing for TikTok. It's been... an adventure.
In my experience, tablets are not laptops. They aren't. They're big phones with better keyboards.
The Good Stuff
Writing on a tablet is actually nice. No distraction. The screen is 14 inches of OLED beauty. It's bright and fast. 120Hz is just smooth. You'll love it for media. Netflix on this thing is better than most TVs.
Honestly, the battery life was great. I got about 9 hours of screen time. My laptop usually dies at 6.
The Struggle
Here's the problem. File management in Android 16 is better, sure. But it's not macOS or Windows. Moving five files from a folder to an email felt like a chore.
I think the biggest issue is "lapability." I tried to use it on the bus. It fell over twice. You need a desk. Always.
My Advice
If you're a student or someone who just writes and watches movies, you'll be fine. A tablet is great for that. But if you're a coder or an Excel nerd? Don't do it. You'll be back on your laptop in 2 days.
In my experience, a 2-in-1 like a Surface or a Yoga is still the best middle ground. Tablets are fun but for work? They're still just secondary devices. At least for me.
